Memorial Day Model Marathon

Thu May 29, 2008, 8:30 PM
So, for some reason it took twenty years of loving art and sketching the world before anyone ever exposed me to the beautiful experience of drawing from a live nude model.
But when my grandmother finally took me to do it, I got a whole day of it. So i definately learned the ropes (no pun intended).

There was a woman upstairs when i first walked in, but i only got to do one quick sketch of her. Then this man who was about 25/26 and built just like my exboyfriend did poses for three hours. He had a very expressive face, and held his poses very nicely. After him was lunch (they had delicious hamburgers for us) and there was a woman who was lean and tall. She liked to use the ropes that were hanging from the ceiling, and used them in alot of her poses, which was interesting. After her there were two models posing together, a man and a woman, they were total pros, and he was very built (and had some interesting piercings that had my grandmother asking me questions about afterwards).

It was a fantastic experience, and if you'd like to see a few of the sketches I did (remember, it was my first time ever doing this) they are in my scraps.

I've also been working on a painting I've had in my head for a while, the first layer is drying (its oils, so it'll be a while) and i'll get back to working on it soon i am sure.

I declared an art minor at Bradley now, so I'll have much more (and much more interesting) things to come in the not so distant future.

You´re right... people always try to find a way to express themselfes, so they start to create something to show their feelings... i think that´s a good way to do that :)
